Cooking with Camille

This summer, the J.H. Dickerson Club, in partnership with the City of Daytona Beach, launched a captivating plant-based cooking program led by Chef Camille from Kale Cafe. The initiative has successfully engaged 25 local children, educating them on healthy eating and teaching them to prepare nutritious snacks with everyday household items. As the program concludes, each participant will receive a mini cookbook featuring the plant-based recipes they’ve mastered.

Feedback from the kids has been overwhelmingly positive, with 100% expressing interest in continuing this program after school. We are excited about the potential to not only attract more young people but also to help them cultivate healthy habits that can last into their teenage years. For the teens, this program offers a valuable opportunity to apply their new culinary skills in broader aspects of life as they transition into adulthood. This initiative promises to nurture lifelong health and wellness in our community’s youth.
